These marriage records have been taken from the individual files and packets in the Abbeville Courthouse and from copies of legal records for Old 96 on deposit in the SC Archives, as well as from the newspaper notices in early local papers. All sources are cited so that the researcher may document his work.
Since vital records were not kept in SC until the 20th century, this book is a very valuable tool for research in this area.
