Includes excerpts from the Draper Manuscripts of a series of interviews conducted by Reverend Dabney Shane during the early to mid 1800s. At that time many of the pioneers were still living who were eyewitnesses to many of the events in history. This section also contains valuable genealogical information from many of the first settlers in Kentucky who shared information on their families such as when they arrived in Kentucky, where they departed from, and the various stations or forts they stayed in when they first arrived. In the back of the book is a section entitled, "Historical Notes on the 18th Century, Facts and Findings on Pioneer Life." This is a collection of unusual and out of the ordinary findings on pioneer life that the author has found over the last several years. They include documentaiton on various aspects of frontier life and have been taken from many different sources, all of which are referenced. 2007. 228 pp.
