Colonial Roots is located at 17296 Coastal Highway (Route 1) in the lovely seaside town of Lewes, Delaware. We are directly accross the street from St. Jude's Catholic Church between Route 9 and the Nassau Overpass.

Store Hours and Holiday Schedule
We are generally open to the public Monday thru Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, but you may order from our website at anytime. Sometimes we don't open until noon on Wednesday or Friday if Ed can't get someone to cover for him while he plays tennis. He will not give up his tennis for nobody. Call first if you're coming on a Wed or Friday morning.
We are generally closed the Thursday of and Friday after Thanksgiving (not because Ed wants to be closed but his family insists on it) but open that Saturday after Thanksgiving. We are also closed on Christmas Day, New Year's Day and the 4th of July.

Our History
Colonial Roots (formerly known as Delmarva Roots) was founded in 2000. The company is owned and operated by F. Edward Wright.
Ed Wright was editor of the Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin for about 10 years. He is a past president of the Prince George's Genealogical Society and the Upper Shore Genealogical Society. He founded Family Line Publications in Westminster, Maryland around 1988 (another genealogy publishing company) and sold it in 1998 thinking he would retire from the business...but somehow he couldn't manage to stay retired...
Holly Wright joined her father full-time to take on the management of the Colonial Roots marketing, sales, and website in 2003. She left to start a career in real estate web content management in 2006 but continues to advise her father on all internet-related aspects of business.
